Our Bag It & Bring It ™ all-plastic collection program accepts post-use plastics within communities and municipalities through simple solutions. The program accepts all plastics, all numbers, and all symbols—all together in a bag.

All-plastic collection program

Fill the bags, not the landfills

Today, less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled.*

Our Bag It & Bring It™ landfill-diversion programs are designed to change that. We collect all types of plastic, divert it from landfills, incineration plants, and the environment, and redirect it onto a recycling pathway.

We empower communities to reduce plastic waste.

Through Bag It & Bring It™, we eliminate confusion and increase participation in recycling. By doing so, we believe it’s possible to unlock new pathways that recycle up to 90% of plastic material.

Simple, all-plastic collection solutions.

We establish best practices for managing post-use plastics in communities and municipalities. With Bag It & Bring It™, every plastic item is accepted—any type, any number, any symbol—all together in a single bag.

Cyclyx is working to bridge the gap and move the needle in a positive direction for the recyclability of all plastics. These programs are part of the overall Cyclyx solution to the plastic waste problem.

Collaboration in the City of Houston

Through a collaboration with the City of Houston and industry partners ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell, we have been able to launch and expand our take-back efforts via nine drop-off locations.

As we ramp up preparations for the first Cyclyx Circularity Center's opening in Houston, the plastic waste collected from our Bag It & Bring It™ programs is being baled and stored. Once the facility is operational, the material will be sorted, processed, and placed on a recycling pathway.

Traditionally, less than 10%* of plastics produced are recycled through mechanical methods, which are most effective for clean, single-type plastics like water bottles and milk jugs. Advanced recycling expands this by converting a wider range of plastics into new materials.

At Cyclyx, we combine both approaches. We use new technologies to accept, analyze, and process diverse plastic waste streams, then sort and custom compound them for their highest-value use. This enables difficult-to-recycle plastics to become building blocks for materials equivalent to virgin plastics.

Participation is easy.

  1. Empty and rinse out any liquids, food, and other residue

  2. Place all items in plastic bag(s)

  3. Close and tie bag(s) shut

    • Food-grade plastics: Cups, plates, cutlery, chip bags, soda bottles, food containers

    • Household plastics: shower liners, plastic bags, medicine bottles, detergent bottles, shampoo bottles

    • Miscellaneous plastics: CDs, foam packaging, pet food bags

    • Hazardous materials like chemicals, oil, fuel

    • Bulk items / furniture like sheds, storage bins, pools

    • Rubber materials like tires, tubes, water hoses, gloves

    • Medical/biohazard waste like sharp razors, IVs, syringes

    • Electronic waste, extension cords, wiring / string lights

Blueprint for future locations

This public-private partnership model is the first of its kind in the United States and will serve as a blueprint for other cities and communities nationwide. As a pioneer in the space, Cyclyx and its team of experts selected Houston because it is the fourth-largest municipality in the country. ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell are two of the world’s largest chemical companies headquartered in the Houston area, with goals to expand their recycling processes.
